Hap Seng Buys KL Metropolis Land for RM869M Sierra Positive Sdn Bhd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Hap Seng Consolidated Bhd, has entered into a conditional sale and purchase agreement to acquire a parcel of commercial land from TTDI KL Metropolis Sdn Bhd (TKLM) for RM868.67 million. TKLM is a wholly owned subsidiary of Naza TTDI Sdn Bhd, which in turn is an 80%-owned subsidiary of Naza Corp Holdings Sdn Bhd. In a filing with Bursa Malaysia today, Hap Seng said the acquisition of the land, known as Met 3 Land, Plot 7A, KL Metropolis, would be funded by internally generated funds and bank borrowings. Gagasan Nadi Secures a RM195.2m Residential Project GAGASAN Nadi Cergas Bhd has secured a construction contract worth RM195.2 million from a subsidiary of Paramount Corp Bhd (Paramount Group). Nadi Cergas Sdn Bhd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Gagasan Nadi, has received a letter of award (LoA) from Paramount Property (Sepang) Sdn Bhd to undertake the turnkey contract of designing and developing 1,076 high rise residential units in Greenwood Salak Perdana, Selangor. Targeted 30,000 Jobs Available in Construction Sector Next Year The Works Ministry (KKR) estimates that some 30,000 jobs will be created in various fields, especially the construction sector, next year. Moderate COVID-19 Impact compared to last year The extended Covid-19 outbreak in the country has continued to affect the construction industry this year, but the impact has been more moderate compared to last year due to a vaccination rollout targeted at construction workers, among others. The Construction Industry Development Board’s (CIDB) CEO Datuk Ahmad Asri Abdul Hamid said a proactive approach had been taken by the Ministry of Works (KKR) through CIDB to increase vaccination rates among construction workers. “The Construction Industry Vaccination Programme (CIVac), which is a specific vaccination programme for construction workers, was launched on July 1, 2021, and implemented in five states.
