Moderate COVID-19 Impact compared to last year The extended Covid-19 outbreak in the country has continued to affect the construction industry this year, but the impact has been more moderate compared to last year due to a vaccination rollout targeted at construction workers, among others. The Construction Industry Development Board’s (CIDB) CEO Datuk Ahmad Asri Abdul Hamid said a proactive approach had been taken by the Ministry of Works (KKR) through CIDB to increase vaccination rates among construction workers. “The Construction Industry Vaccination Programme (CIVac), which is a specific vaccination programme for construction workers, was launched on July 1, 2021, and implemented in five states. 102,802 pekerja pembinaan sudah divaksin Seramai 102,802 pekerja industri pembinaan menerima vaksin COVID-19 menerusi Program Vaksinasi Industri Pembinaan (CIVac). Timbalan Menteri Kerja Raya, Datuk Arthur Joseph Kurup, berkata jumlah itu membabitkan 44,534 warga tempatan dan 58,268 warga asing. "Data ini tidak termasuk bilangan pekerja industri pembinaan yang menerima vaksin melalui program vaksinasi lain seperti Program Imunisasi COVID-19 Kebangsaan (PICK) dan program vaksinasi yang dilaksanakan oleh kementerian lain. "Data pelaksanaan CIVac diselaraskan melalui sistem MySejahtera," katanya pada sesi jawab lisan di Dewan Rakyat, hari ini. CIVac Phase 2 - Urges Registration For Construction Workers The programme will run till 15 September 2021, and will involve 55,000 construction worker in Penang and Johor. Meanwhile, registrations will open on 25 July in Pahang, and on 31 July in Sabah. Phase Two of Malaysia's Construction Industry Vaccination Programme (CIVac) will begin on 5 August 2021, Senior Minister of Works Dato' Sri Haji Fadillah Haji Yusof has announced. The senior minister said the programme will run till 15 September 2021, and will involve 55,000 construction workers, namely 30,000 from Penang and 25,000 from Johor. Registrations had opened on 12 July. To date, all slots in Johor have been fully booked, while in Penang, registrations are still ongoing and 22,800 slots have been taken so far.
