Gagasan Nadi Secures a RM195.2m Residential Project GAGASAN Nadi Cergas Bhd has secured a construction contract worth RM195.2 million from a subsidiary of Paramount Corp Bhd (Paramount Group). Nadi Cergas Sdn Bhd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Gagasan Nadi, has received a letter of award (LoA) from Paramount Property (Sepang) Sdn Bhd to undertake the turnkey contract of designing and developing 1,076 high rise residential units in Greenwood Salak Perdana, Selangor. Construction works will commence in the fourth quarter of 2022 and it is expected to take 48 months to complete, the company said in a statement yesterday. Construction Industry Will Move Towards Green Buildings Gradually Stakeholders within the Malaysian buildings and construction industry will gradually embrace green buildings given the increasing focus on sustainability from real estate investors and more stringent building energy codes from policymakers to address climate change. Targeted 30,000 Jobs Available in Construction Sector Next Year The Works Ministry (KKR) estimates that some 30,000 jobs will be created in various fields, especially the construction sector, next year. Its deputy minister Datuk Arthur Joseph Kurup said the job opportunities will be offered under the Short-Term Employment Programme (mySTEP) and Professional Training and Education for Growing Entrepreneurs (PROTÉGÉ) which will begin in January 2022. “Under the 2022 Budget, we (KKR) want to boost the construction sector to create employment opportunities for locals, especially the youth,” he said on the “Selamat Pagi Malaysia” programme broadcast by RTM’s TV1 channel. Moderate COVID-19 Impact compared to last year The extended Covid-19 outbreak in the country has continued to affect the construction industry this year, but the impact has been more moderate compared to last year due to a vaccination rollout targeted at construction workers, among others. The Construction Industry Development Board’s (CIDB) CEO Datuk Ahmad Asri Abdul Hamid said a proactive approach had been taken by the Ministry of Works (KKR) through CIDB to increase vaccination rates among construction workers. “The Construction Industry Vaccination Programme (CIVac), which is a specific vaccination programme for construction workers, was launched on July 1, 2021, and implemented in five states. New R&D Project - Building Structures with 3D Machine Sarawak Consolidated Industries Bhd (SCIB) held a site visit to its factory located in Kuching to showcase its 3D constructions printer, which will be utilised in the company's constructions projects. The site visit was attended by the Construction Industry Development Board Malaysia (CIDB) deputy chief executive, Datuk Ir Elias Ismail and representatives from CIDB and its subsidiary, the Akademi Binaan Malaysia Wilayah Sarawak (ABM). Dibenarkan Beroperasi Untuk Kontraktor Kelas G1 - G4 Kerajaan kini membenarkan sektor pembinaan membabitkan kontraktor Kelas G1, G2, G3 dan G4, kembali beroperasi sepanjang tempoh Fasa 1 Pelan Pemulihan Negara (PPN) dengan syarat memohon kelulusan menerusi sistem CIMS MITI. Malah, perkhidmatan dalam rantaian bekalan yang terbabit bagi kerja pembinaan itu turut dibenarkan beroperasi. Menteri Kanan Kerja Raya, Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, berkata pihak industri perlu sentiasa menyemak senarai kawasan yang terbabit dalam Fasa 1 atau 2 PPN menerusi laman rasmi Majlis Keselamatan Negara (MKN).
